Really having a great time doing this project. The art direction came from client and I created all the characters in Maya and then use ZBrush for detailing some parts, such as the creasing on the clothes and also for painting most of the texture. Some of the characters are rigged and posed in Maya and some are posed in ZBrush using Transpose tool. The final result of the characters are rendered without music instrument as because it will be mount with real instruments for in-store signage purpose. I was having this idea for creating a high poly character where the style is a combination from Hong Kong comic style and Western comic style. I try to visualize it through the eyebrows, facial structure and face scar then give it a realistic skin shading looks. The base mesh was built up in maya and sculpted in zbrush. I use mayaHair and mayaFur for the hair, eyebrows and whiskers. The skin is using mentalRay fast skin shader.
